The DRYPOINT ADZ is a heat-regenerating adsorption drum dryer engineered specifically for oil-free compressed air systems.

Unlike conventional twin-tower dryers with switching cycles and valve blocks, the DRYPOINT ADZ operates continuously with a single rotating adsorption drum. It uses compressor waste heat for regeneration – eliminating purge air losses and dramatically reducing energy consumption. The result: stable pressure dew point by defined conditions, maximum efficiency and long-term reliability.

Its compact single-tower design reduces mechanical complexity and wear, making the DRYPOINT ADZ ideally suited for OEM compressor packages. Precisely matched to compressor type, pressure and flow rate, it integrates seamlessly into packaged solutions while also offering clear advantages for end users and project installations.

Functionality

How our adsorption drum dryer works – simply explained

Unlike conventional twin-tower adsorption dryers, the DRYPOINT ADZ operates with a slowly rotating adsorption drum inside a single pressure vessel

  • A defined portion of hot compressed air upstream of the aftercooler is used for regeneration
  • Adsorption and regeneration take place simultaneously and continuously
  • No switching cycles, no depressurization phases
  • Stable pressure dew point under defined operation conditions 

The result: stable pressure dew point performance, high process reliability and exceptional energy efficiency – even under variable operating conditions. 

This principle ensures high process stability, low wear and exceptional energy efficiency. 

Step-by-Step Drying Process

Compressed Air from the Aftercooler

The oil-free compressor (OFS) is equipped or can be modified with two outlets. Discharge air is taken from the aftercooler at approximately 32–40 °C.

Hot Air for Regeneration

Discharge air is taken upstream of the aftercooler. Depending on the pressure rise at the final compression stage, the temperature can reach 160–180 °C. This heat is used for drum regeneration.

Regeneration Flow Control

A manual valve is used to adjust the volume flow, ensuring sufficient regeneration energy and proper differential pressure for mixing with stream from wet air inlet.

Mixing via Ejector

An ejector mixes the streams of wet air from the inlet and hot, wet air after regeneration, based on allowable pressure differences and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations.

Cooling the Mixed Air

The cooler is designed for full volume flow. Both water-cooled and air-cooled versions are available.

Rotating Drying Drum

The pressure vessel contains the drum and is driven by a gear motor operating at approximately 6–10 revolutions per hour.

Dry Compressed Air Outlet

The dried compressed air exits the system. A dew point sensor is available as an option for monitoring dryer operating status.
