Condensate drain for hydrogen applications

PURIFHY EDW

Designed for the future of green hydrogen production

Reliable condensate drainage for hydrogen systems

Green hydrogen generated by electrolysis is saturated with water. As the gas stream is cooled down, condensate forms naturally. This undesired moisture impairs hydrogen gas purity and compromises sensitive components. The PURIFHY EDW condensate drain designed for hydrogen applications ensures safe and reliable drainage without the loss of gaseous hydrogen. By doing so, it protects the system from corrosion and downstream equipment from damage.

Based on our proven BEKOMAT technology – the world’s first electronically level controlled condensate drain for the compressed air industry – we developed the PURIFHY EDW, a solution specifically designed for hydrogen systems. It guarantees process reliability and seamless integration into modern electrolyzer applications.

Why PURIFHY EDW?

Safe

It is safe because…

  • its design and material selection are optimized for hydrogen applications
  • it prevents the formation of explosive atmospheres
  • it comes with continuous level monitoring and integrated malfunction detection
Intelligent

It is intelligent because…

  • it enables status monitoring and remote control
  • it supports predictive maintenance
  • it offers a digital interface for integration into higher-level control systems
Versatile

It is versatile because…

  • it delivers reliable performance at fluctuating pressures and liquid loads
  • it integrates smoothly into electrolyzer systems
  • it allows quick and simple maintenance

With the PURIFHY EDW, we are setting a new benchmark in condensate drainage for hydrogen applications – combining decades of experience with the requirements of modern electrolyzer systems.

How PURIFHY EDW works

Step 1

Safe collection with intelligent monitoring

Condensate from the electrolyzer system is collected in a specially designed pressure vessel. A continuous level monitoring system ensures that the filling process is tracked in real time. This guarantees that the liquid is held securely inside the unit without any hydrogen escaping.

Step 2

Automatic and reliable discharge

Once the defined filling level is reached, the integrated control unit opens the discharge mechanism. The liquid is drained quickly, safely, and completely – without pressure loss and without the risk of hydrogen leakage. After discharge, the system automatically resets and is immediately ready for the next cycle.
